
We will visit Drak Yerpa in the morning and we will have a short excursion around the region. It is the main retreat center of the central Tibet, since the 7th century.
In the afternoon we will proceed our drive to Ganden Monastery. The monastery was founded in the year 1409 and considered to be the first yellow hat lineage’s monastery in entire Tibet. Despite visiting the monastery, you will have opportunity to witness the beauty of Lhasa river valley while walking around the monastery
Drakyerpa is the main retreat or meditation center of central Lhasa since the 7th century and there are 108 caves around the whole mountain. It is 30 km away from Lhasa, it is good if you do this in the morning as it has some wonderful hiking. The whole Drakyerpa monastery is built up over caves. As you climb over, you will get fantastic views of the whole valley. Personally, this is my favorite site of whole sightseeing around Lhasa. Even today, their numbers of Lama who purposely come there to do mediation. This is one best spiritual tour which any tourist can yearn for. In the afternoon, we will be driving to Ganden monastery, 60 km away from Lhasa. It, s founded in 1409 and known to be the 2nd largest monastery of whole yellow hat sect. It will 2 hours to visit the historical monastery and after the visit, again, it is worth doing a short trek around the monastery after your visit. You will have the opportunity to witness the beauty of whole Lhasa valley. You will be driven back to Lhasa after having full day sightseeing or excursion at Drakyerpa and Ganden monastery. In the evening, it is nice to take the time to have dinner outside where you will have the opportunity to see the cultural show such as opera dance, classical dance, etc while having dinner.
