How to get my China Visa and Tibet Travel Permit:

A:     If you are entering Tibet via Mainland China

If you are planning to enter Tibet via China, you can apply for a China Visa in your country of residence. Once you obtain your China visa, you are open to travel throughout Mainland China, but to travel Tibet, you must obtain the addition of a special Tibet travel permit. You will not be allowed to enter Tibet without this travel permit. We can arrange for it after receiving a photo copy of your Passport and China visa through e-mail. Once we receive your travel permit, we will send it to you either via courier or through a fast international shipping service. In order to send it to you, we’ll just need to know where you are planning stay in Mainland China and the hotel address.

If you are flying directly to Tibet, one of our agents will be waiting for you and can provide the travel permit upon your arrival.

:Important tips from Dream Tibet Tour when you apply for China visa:

When you apply for China Visa in your country of residence, do not mention Tibet as your destination during the application process. Your consulate may refuse your visa application since Tibet is politically sensitive in China. We recommend you say that you will be traveling to Mainland China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Yunaan, etc.

Please check your passport validity! E-mail us a photo copy of your passport and China Visa at least 15 days before your actual arrival date in Tibet so that we can prepare the Tibet travel permit and send it to you in time.

B:   If you are entering Tibet via Nepal (Kathmandu)

If you plan to enter Tibet from Nepal, you must get your Tibet group visa from the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu. Whether you already have a Chinese visa or not, a Tibet group visa is compulsory for all tourists entering Tibet from Nepal. The Tibet Group Visa is an A4 size sheet of paper, with the name, sex, nationality, passport number, date of birth and occupation of each member of your group listed. The dates of entry and exit are precisely recorded. Usually, the visa is valid only for the length of the trip you have booked but it’s possible to extend the visa for few additional days, but only for staying in Lhasa. There will be two original copies of the Tibet Group Visa, one for immigration at entry and another for exit. Dream Tibet Tour can easily help you obtain the Tibet Group visa through our partner agent in Kathmandu. We highly recommend you to don’t apply for an individual Chinese visa in your country if you decided to enter Tibet from Nepal, because when you apply for the group visa for entering Tibet, the Chinese embassy will cancel your individual Chinese visa.

: Important tips from Dream Tibet Tour :

We advise you to arrive in Kathmandu at least 3 days early to make sure that you will get your China visa on time. We ask that you send us a photo copy of your passport at least 15 days prior to the beginning of your trip in Tibet. This way we can prepare your Tibet Permit which is essential while you are touring here.

Please remember to check your passport validity…!!
